Winter Success - starts with a Fall Plan

Brandon Anderson - Brown University


Last Fall Brandon Anderson signed his Letter of Intent with an Ivy League school - Brown University.

Brandon went on to lead the Don Bosco Prep Ironmen to it's first State Championship since the 1970's and finished his high school career in a celebrated style.

What most people did not see is ALL of Brandon's HARD WORK in our program, on his driveway and with his AAU team.

The Athlete's that Perform the BEST are doing EXTRA Work when the lights are not on. Brandon was committed to GE Training from his 8th grade Summer before he entered Don Bosco Prep all the way to College.

We are preparing our schedule for Fall and we are hoping to see some NEW Faces of serious Student Athletes and their Parents that understand that a planned Strength & Conditioning program that caters to the Athlete's needs during the off season and preseason will help them achieve their Goals for their Sport.

"Good Energy Training Strength Coaches Retreat/Summer Reload" will go into affect on Friday afternoon thru Monday.

Shop will be closed Saturday & Monday as we are coming to the end of our 14th Summer & it's time to reflect on the Hard Work & Good Energy we have provided All Summer & throughout 2015-16.

This picture is great because it is the culmination of a Summer of HARD WORK in the GE BackYard. Brady Roark (Amy Roark) is a rising sophomore for Mahwah HS's football team and Lacrosse. He spent most of his Summer like most other high school lacrosse players - at showcases and tournaments all over the east coast. Brady was different however, because he also put IN THE WORK when he was home to learn & improve his Strength & Conditioning with our Staff at GE. Yesterday, Brady went from starting with the Bar & green 25lb plates in May 2016 to 250 pounds in the Back Squat. Okay, so NOT Everyone is testing this week including Lisa Ellison who is just pushing through a bench press set last week during her Upper Body session.

However, we are Fired Up for our Athlete's Progress Report this week in the Squat, Bench, Clean & Movement Tests.

We have had a Great Summer with regard to Commitment to our Program as well as increased strength & speed numbers, and we hope it all comes together this week.

After this week, we will "RELOAD" With our Athlete's that are headed back the next few weeks for College & High School Fall sports and get our Fall training athletes up to speed before they start the Fall WORK.

It's an INTENSE & EXCITING Time and we Take Pride in our Program making a difference for Everyone who Believes in GE!

Summer 2016 - Week #7

Testing PHASE II - In Two Weeks


GE Shop

Since we began training in the Shop in 2003 we have utilized different modalities to increase Strength.

The Towel Bench has been one of our staple exercises in order to load more weight for the bench press and familiarize the student athlete with feeling the increased weight in their hands and to get more confident securing strength gains.

In addition this week, our Lower Body main lift is the Safety Bar squat. We will decrease the percentages a little due to the altered lift, but we feel that our variety of lifts with appropriate tonnage assists our athletes in increasing their strength, minimize staleness in our program and continue to maximize on our previous testing numbers.

Power cleans this week are 4x2 @ 85% of the max.

Our "In Season" Athletes will be performing a total body routine consisting of 2 circuits with an organized sequence of 12 exercises in each.

The Wednesday/Thursday Upper Body routine is a compilation of Chest, Back, Shoulders, Arms and Core/Abs. The workout is written with a higher volume to cater to all our adults and In Season athletes and then we specifically write the numbers for everyone so they do not have to think and can experience an appropriately written personal training workout.

Day #2 - GE Jr. Football Camp Today

Since 2003 we have passed on our knowledge of football to the surrounding communities.

We have fine tuned our program to introduce student athlete's to how Next Level football players approach the game at the high school, college & Pro level.

Our Practice is based on a structured itinerary and sound principles so your student athlete is coached and guided in a positive environment to become more familiar with football specific movements, build confidence before he hits your hometown field and gets in better physical condition.

Pictured is All North Jersey lacrosse player from Saddle River Day school, senior Daniella McMahon performing a 3-Way Lunge in our morning Lower Body class.

Our class schedule includes Tuesday morning Adult Lower Body at 5, 6 and 9:30am. However many of our high school & college athlete's like Daniella headed to Stanford University next year, have joined the classes that fit in their schedule based on their loaded Summer schedule's.

For All readers of our site that are not familiar with our program, we have distinct days and times for specific workouts, therefore giving you or your student athlete the flexibility to perform the classes that are appropriate for them to prepare for excellence in their sport.

All athletes will perform an Introduction/Assessment in which we will screen the newcomer to get a better understanding of how they move, and prepare the best plan to help them get to the next level in their fitness while minimizing risk for injury through our detail oriented program.

Phase I Testing - Summer 2016

We are not just testing in the three main lifts this Summer - Squat, Clean, Bench, but also some Speed, Agility & Athleticism as well.

Pictured is Alexa Magnotta, a senior at TCNJ who will be a four year starter for the in-State DIII perennial power house field hockey team.

Alexa is from south jersey but has a local internship this summer preparing for life after college. We are so excited to work with Alexa because although she has been a dominant force on defense for TCNJ the last three years, she has not had an intense training regiment like she will participate in this Summer with our Staff.

Alexa has been very receptive to our training early on this Summer and we know that it will make a positive impact for her next Fall.

Last Tuesday - Alexa and her 4pm GE Speed Class participated in Testing which included this Broad Jump, Dot Drill (Footwork), Pro Agility Shuttle, 10 Yd Dash, Three Cone Drill and Vertical Jump.

We will test our applicable Athlete's prior to their departure for Pre-Season the last week of July 2016.

Today marks "Day 1" of Testing Week.

This week, and how we "test" is important for many reasons. We teach our Athlete's "How to COMPETE!" in the weight room.

You don't just press a button when you get on the playing field, the competitive edge starts with the right mindset & mental approach to a strength & conditioning program.

We will perform each lift:
Squat - Bench & Clean
With proper technique, or else the lift doesn't count. We will program appropriate weight for each lift that has been calculated in some cases based on 14 weeks of training and this week is actually the 3rd Testing week during that time frame - Winter/Spring into Summer.

Testing does not just consist with Lifting as we will Test & Teach our Athlete's "How to Test" in Speed & Agility drills including:

10 YD Sprint
Pro Agility Shuttle
3 Cone Drill
Dot Drill
Vertical Jump
Broad Jump

It's not too late to get into our Summer program, however - beginners will start at Base Zero and work their way up. We do not perform Testing for Athletes just beginning in our Program.

We are excited for this week as our College Athlete's came back to our facility with s Focus & Great Attitude to really make Big Gains this Summer and with this mental approach we expect them to achieve Success results in their Testing.

Hopefully you All have your Summer plans in the work and you will get to enjoy the New Jersey Shore this Summer, but PLAN YOUR WORK - First.

Our Summer Program is filling up impressively this year so please call us if you plan on getting in this Summer or you want to inquire about our programs for your son or daughter.

We will be accommodating athletes to train in our Adult Classes in the morning as well as 7pm at night so please call to find out how we run our Summer program and find out how to get started.
